It is with profound sorrow that we remember Courtney Johansen of Taupiri, whose sudden passing has left her whānau, friends, and community heartbroken.
“He kura tangi wiwini, he kura tangi wawana. Kua hinga te tōtara i Te Waonui a Tāne.” A treasured one has fallen, leaving a silence that cannot be filled.
Courtney was a beloved daughter of Lynette and Rodney, a devoted partner to Joey, and a cherished sister to Devon. She was also a deeply loved niece, aunty, friend, colleague, and teammate—someone whose presence brought strength, warmth, and connection to all who knew her.
Her life was marked by love, loyalty, and a vibrant spirit that touched many. She carried herself with grace and heart, always showing up for her people and standing strong in her role within her whānau. The bond she shared with those closest to her will forever remain unbroken, even in her absence.
In this time of grief, her whānau also mourn the loss of the precious baby she carried. There is comfort in knowing she did not walk that journey alone, surrounded by love every step of the way.
Courtney will return home to be with her family at 2 Russell Road, Huntly, where whānau will gather to pay their respects. Loved ones are asked to allow time for immediate family before opening the space for all who wish to come and honor her life. A service will be held at Taupiri Rugby Club, with details to be confirmed.
The family kindly asks for patience, respect, and continued support as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. Those who are unwell are encouraged to stay home to protect vulnerable elders.
Though words fall short, Courtney Johansen will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
Haere rā, e te tau. Rest in love.
