It is with profound sadness that we remember Terry Harty of Carlow, a cherished member of the Roscrea Youth Centre community and a gifted young boxer whose passing has deeply saddened all who knew him.
Terry will be remembered as a bright, kind-hearted, and energetic young person who brought positivity wherever he went. In the boxing community, he was admired not only for his talent and dedication in the ring, but also for his respectful attitude, humility, and the enthusiasm he brought to training. Coaches and peers alike recall him as a joy to have in the gym—someone who lifted the atmosphere with his presence and spirit.
Within the Roscrea Youth Centre, Terry was a valued member of a close-knit community where he built friendships and shared in moments of growth and encouragement. His kindness and energy left a lasting impression on staff and fellow members, and his absence will be deeply felt by all.
Those who trained with Terry remember him as a promising boxer with determination and heart, always willing to learn and give his best. Beyond sport, he was appreciated for his friendly nature and the genuine warmth he showed to others.
The community has expressed heartfelt condolences to Terry’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. As a mark of respect, the Roscrea Youth Centre will remain closed on Thursday evening, 23rd April, allowing all to grieve and reflect together.
Though his life was far too short, Terry’s memory will live on through the impact he made on those around him—in the gym, in his community, and in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
